From the acclaimed Mexican director Amat Escalante, HELI is a powerful, gritty and evocative film that portrays the devastating effects of drug violence and corruption in Mexico society, and how a working class family struggles against them in a small town in Mexico. Heli and his family live an ordinary life until his sister, a thirteen-year-old Middle School student, falls madly in love with another teenager, a newly recruited police cadet. This love affair accidentally involves Heli’s family in a tragic series of events that with change them forever.

Escalante delivers in HELI a visually striking film about violence, hope and humankind. Winner of the Best Director Award at Cannes Film Festival 2013.
